I am waiting impatiently for an employer to contact me. Hopefully sooner than later. In the meantime I have been keeping my unemployed self busy with temp jobs (disaster!)
job hunting (half-halfheartedly) and volunteering with Faithful Friends, a local no-kill animal shelter.
But back to that employer. Does it really take 3 weeks to hire a candidate. Sheesh.
So I am in a horrible state of mind. It's hard to be chipper (is that a word?) when you're not working in the career you realllly, really want to be in. And volunteering ain't getting it...I love non-profits, but sometimes you live a little hand to mouth ya know?
But to be positive (which I am usually) I want to be the head of Alumni Development and Fund raising when I grow up. So that means finishing my degree, volunteering at a non-profit part-time and shaking the tree of my contacts to find a job in the non-profit arena.
It is a total career change for me in that I have always volunteered in the areas I love (event-planning, fund raising) and worked in classic work a day jobs like sales, retail and the like.
So here is my chance to get my feet wet, and I am part scared out of my wits and part overjoyed at the chance. More on this employer later!
